Zowail Vs. Goweida cancelled !!

This is too much first Mohmed Mounir concerts and now intellectuals meetings !!
The Egyptian authorities have canceled the intellectual confrontation between Egyptian-American Nobel Pirze winner Ahmed Zowail and renowned Egyptian Poet Farouk Gowida. This confrontation or rather lecture of the two best friends and extraordinary men was to be held at Damanhour Opera house. Already both Gowida and Zowail were born and raised at the city of Damanhour.
The lecture was open to everybody to attend , there was a huge anticipation for it thanks to the fact that both men are amazing in their fields. Still politically both men are considered dangerous on the regime's security. Gowida is well known critic of the regime and its government expressing this in a wide open way through his poems , his articles and his appearances in TV shows. Where as Zowail , let's just say his popularity and his views about the country and its progress the regime does not like that much. It is enough that last time he appeared on TV he praised Ragab Erdogan and did not mention Honsi Mubarak !!
The authorities announced that it has canceled the lecture because of the seating !! There was a danger on the audiance from the seatings in Damnhour opera house !!
Anyhow we should not be surprised from the regime and its actions .

  1. Why don't they host these lectures (without an audience) online and video stream them where a lot more people can watch and call in if needed and then download later on demand. This way it's very low budget because there are free services in the US which do the video streaming, do it with minimal preparation and cost.

Then let's see if the government will still use those security and seating excuses!

  2. I hope they do it on tv or online as adbu said. The regime is scared that is now very clear and like you I cant wait for El Baradi to come a long and see what will happen. I hope it all turns out for the best and I do think there is hope bec it seems that ppl are turned on and trying to rally for the country we've seen it for football but in few days after also in collecting donations for the flood-victims, we are again starting to rally together even though for years we've been made to fear our togetherness thanks to the abuse of emergency laws

  3. @Abdu , I think this move could be translated as provocation to the regime , I do not think Zowail in his current position in the States will be able to do it.
Still I like the TV suggestion
@anonymous, the TV suggestion would be great. What happened in football and in floods give us hope ,yet I wish it is more than hoping , people should really do something and rally for the country , for its future now ,the county is falling part already
